CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
FOUNDATION AGILITY (Handling)
This class is required for all dogs (puppies) new to agility and all dog/handler teams that are new to GOIA and have not taken a similar course. Dogs entered in this class should have basic obedience skills such as heel, sit, down, stay and come.
This class will focus on:
~ handling skills: handler focus, working on your left and your right, front and rear crosses, directionals, stays and 

releases
~ targeting, distance and contact zone performance
~ motivation and play
This class is open to all levels of agility teams whether you are new to agility or just want to brush up on your foundation skills.

FOUNDATION AGILITY (Obstacles)
This class is for dogs (puppies) and handlers that have successfully completed Foundation Agility (Handling).
This class will focus on:
~ introducing the agility obstacles to both the dog and handler
~ independent obstacle performance skills
~ handling skills
At the end of the session, your dog should be able to complete the obstacles without fear or hesitation. Short sequences of obstacles will be incorporated throughout the session.
Registration required.
For dogs who have successfully completed foundation Agility (handling and obstacles) or a similar class and/or who are working off lead on all agility obstacles, and for handlers with some handling experience.
We will focus on:
~ lincorporating handling skills
~ improving dogs obstacle performance skills
~ sequencing
At the end of the session, the dogs/handlers should be able to complete short sequences of obstacles incorporating the different handling techniques as well as improved obstacle performance.
Registration Required
For dogs and handlers in competition (novice or advanced) and/or those performing at the competitive level.
We will focus on:
~building on basic handling skills
~handling complex sequences
~improving speed and motivation
Handlers will be encouraged to try a variety of handling skills to determine what works best for them and their dog.
Registration Required
Dogs must be showing or be ready to show at the equivalent of the AKC Excellent Level or higher. Dogs must be able to perform the weave poles unassisted with the handler at a distance.
We will focus on:
~ improving teamwork
~ handling challenging multiple obstacle sequences
~ moving smoothly and quickly as a team
~ Dog/handler focus
This class is fast-paced and requires a high degree of interest and motivation from both
the dog and the handler.

Make-up Policy
Make-up classes will be provided only for classes cancelled by instructor due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Agility Run-Thrus 









$10/visit or $45/month
Run-thrus are unsupervised practice where the agility field is open for training. Handlers should be comfortable with their handling abilities and the skill level of their dog(s) when considering taking advantage of these practice times. There will be no instruction at these sessions.
Private and Semi-Private Lessons from $30/half hour
Private and semi-private lessons are available by appointment.
